PEMBERDAYAAN IBU-IBU PKK MELALUI PELATIHAN PEMBUATAN FACE AND BODY SCRUB DARI KULIT BUAH MANGGIS (Garcinia mangostana L.)

Abstrak

Mangosteen fruit is one of the main agricultural commodities of Belimbing Village, Pupuan District, Tabanan Regency, Bali. During the harvest season, the excess mangosteen fruit often goes unsold, causing losses for farmers. To address this issue, a community outreach program was conducted with the aim of providing skills to the PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) women in Belimbing Village to process the surplus unsold mangosteen fruit into Face and Body Scrub products using mangosteen fruit peels. Mangosteen peels contain xanthone derivatives that show promising pharmacological activity for the skin, making them suitable for beauty products. The community outreach program began with a briefing to the PKK women as participants in the training, explaining the steps involved in making Face and Body Scrub from mangosteen peels. The process started with material preparation, followed by heating and dissolving each ingredient. The dissolved ingredients were then mixed, supplemented with mangosteen fruit peel powder, and concluded with packaging. The training results indicated that the PKK women had grasped the process of making Face and Body Scrub from mangosteen fruit peels, as demonstrated by their ability to independently practice it during PKK gatherings. Furthermore, evaluation tests showed that the scrub met the standards with a pH value of 6.8, a spreadability of 5.91 cm, homogeneity, and antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 1.023 mg/mL.
