Abstract

This study focuses on the role of financial literacy, digital literacy, and self-efficacy as intangible assets inherent in business actors in driving the sustainability performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This approach uses the Regulatory Focus Theory (RFT) as a theoretical basis to explain how individual motivations, both promotion focus and prevention focus, influence the utilization of these assets in facing business challenges. Through the Narrative Literature Review method, this research analyzes various previous studies that discuss the relationship between financial literacy, digital literacy, and self-efficacy with sustainability performance in the SME sector. The results show that all three factors contribute positively to business sustainability, although there are some findings that show different results depending on the context and character of the business actors. The research gaps found can be the basis for further research that is more in-depth and contextualized. This research is expected to provide a new understanding of the importance of a motivational approach in managing intangible assets, and encourage the active role of government and educational institutions in increasing the capacity of SMEs through business literacy and training programs.
