Abstract


This research focuses on the spectacle society and counter culture in the Denpasar motorcycle modification enthusiast community. This research aims to describe and analyze the spectacle society and counterculture in motorcycle modification. This research method is a qualitative approach with a descriptive-explanatory type. The theory chosen to analyze this research is the theory of spectacle society by Guy Debord and Counterculture by Dick Hebdige. The results of this study reveal that the spectacle society has contributed to shaping the culture of motorbike modification, through the spectacle society, modification actors are encouraged to continue to follow trends as well as make modifications more than just a hobby but also a lifestyle, which is considered to represent their identity and also, contribute to shaping modification actors who carry out modifications in an effort to resist the dominant culture as well as the uniformity formed by the regulation formers as well as trying to form a community that represents it.
