Peer Review Process

Peer–Review Process – JMAT

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Matematika undergo a peer–review process. All articles submitted to the Jurnal Matematika will be reviewed by 1 or more reviewers who are experts in their field. Once an article is accepted, it will be freely downloadable from the journal’s website. Submissions may be written in either Indonesian or English.

Why reviewing matters

Evaluating a colleague’s work is both an honor and a demanding responsibility. The Editorial Board, authors, and readers of Jurnal Matematika appreciate the time and expertise you devote to this task. The journal follows a rapid, fair, double–blind review system that guarantees high–quality publications. Consequently, we rely on reviewers who can offer insightful, constructive feedback within roughly four weeks. Maintaining the journal’s reputation hinges on reviewers who are knowledgeable, objective, and capable of delivering thorough assessments.

Double–Blind Review – JMAT

To preserve the integrity of a double–blind peer–review for submissions to JMAT, both authors and reviewers must take every possible step to keep their identities hidden. Authors need to anonymize all submitted documents, images, and supplementary files, while reviewers must also ensure that any files they upload are appropriately blinded.

Key actions for everyone handling the files

  1. General Anonymisation
    • Replace every author name in the manuscript (including the text, citations, references, and the article title) with the generic term Author and the appropriate publication year.
  2. Title
    • Remove any information that could reveal the author’s identity.
  3. Citations
    • Cite the author’s work using the author-date format, e.g., (Author, Year).
    • Use third-person language when referring to previous work (e.g., replace “as we have shown” with “… has been shown (Author, Year)”).
  4. Self–References
    • Keep only essential self-citations that are vital for reviewers; omit unnecessary self-references. Format them consistently with other citations, e.g., (Author, Year).
  5. Reference List
    • For blinded references, Anonymous. (Year). Title of the work. Journal Name, volume(issue), pages. DOI omitted.
    • Alternatively, if permitted by the journal: [Author omitted for double-blind review]. (Year). Title of the work. Journal Name, volume(issue), pages. DOI omitted.
  6. Footnotes
    • Strip any identifying details.
  7. Figures & Tables
    • Ensure that labels, captions, and any other figure/table text contain no affiliation or personal identifiers.
  8. Funding & Acknowledgments
    • Delete any mention of funding sources and acknowledgments.
  9. File Names
    • Use neutral file names that do not disclose author or institution information.
  10. Document Properties
    • Remove personal metadata (creator, last–modified–by, etc.) from the file’s properties.
