Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Manuscripts must be prepared using the JMAT template and comply with the Author Guidelines.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

A. The Manuscripts

Manuscript Type

The manuscript should be an original research paper that sufficiently contributes novelty to mathematics and its application. Submissions must be made electronically via the Jurnal Matematika online submission system. The corresponding author must state that the manuscript is not under concurrent consideration elsewhere. Editors will reject submissions that do not follow these procedures.

Structure of the Manuscripts

  • Title: clear, informative, max 12 words, 20 pt Times New Roman.
  • Authors’ names & institutions: list names, affiliations, e-mail addresses, no academic titles. Identify the corresponding author.
  • Abstract & Keywords:
    • Indentation: 0.75 cm left & right.
    • Line spacing: Single (1.0) from title to abstract.
    • Paragraph: abstract in a single paragraph.
    • Language & length: English, 150-250 words, Times New Roman 10pt.
    • Content: review articles – research problem & key points; research articles – objectives, methods, results.
    • Restrictions: no complex formulas, no references.
    • Keywords: 3-5, separated by semicolons.
    • Indonesian manuscripts must include both English & Indonesian abstracts.
  • Introduction (Pendahuluan): background, literature review, aims, significance, novelty.
  • Methods (Metode Penelitian): tools, data sources, analysis techniques.
  • Results and Discussion (Pembahasan): clear presentation, link to previous work, contributions, limitations, implications.
  • Conclusion (Penutup): summarize findings, policy implications (if any), follow the order of the body.
  • Acknowledgement (if any).
  • References: minimum 15 references, at least 10 from the last 10years, APA 7th citation style, only cited works listed.

B. General Writing Format

Manuscript layout: Letter 8,5”x11” 22x28 cm, single-column, line spacing 1.15 (abstract single-spaced). New paragraph starts 0.5cm from the left margin, 12pt Times New Roman.

  • Language: English or Bahasa.
  • Length: 10-15 pages (approximately 3000-7000 words).
  • Margins: Top 3cm, Bottom 3cm, Left 3.5cm, Right 3cm.
  • Title: capitalise only the first word (or proper nouns), 20pt, centre-aligned.
  • Subtitles: UPPERCASE, BOLD, 14pt, centre-aligned.
  • Sub-subtitles: sentence case, left-aligned.
  • Sub-sub-subtitles: capitalise each word (except connectors), italic, left-aligned.

C. Specific Writing Format

  • Equations: numbered (1), (2)… placed to the right of the equation.
  • Estimation results from software packages must be summarised in tables, not shown raw.

D. Tables and Figures

  • Numbering: Arabic numerals (Table 1, Figure 1, …).
  • Table title: placed above the table; figure caption: placed below the figure.
  • Source information: listed at the bottom of the table/figure.
  • Tables: heading row + content rows only; row lines only, no column lines.
  • Notes & sources: included underneath the table when appropriate.

E. Subjects and Authors Index

Provide an index of subject terms used in the manuscript and an index of authors cited (family name followed by given name).

F. Citation

Citations in the text must follow APA 7th style. Authors are encouraged to use Mendeley Reference software.

G. References

Reference format (APA 7th style): author’s last name & initials, year in parentheses, article/book title (sentence case, italics for books), journal name (italics), volume (italics), issue (if any), page numbers, publisher (for books). Managed via Mendeley; at least 15 sources required.

H. Manuscript Template

Manuscripts must follow the official MS Word template (link provided on the journal’s website or click here).

I. Manuscript Submission Requirements

  • Use the JMAT template and comply with all guidelines.
  • Proofread carefully.
  • Conduct a similarity check (max 20%); upload the certificate and check results as supplementary files.
  • Manuscripts will be rejected if they:
    • Do not adhere to the guidelines
    • Fall outside the journal’s scope
    • Deviate from the required format
    • Are written in poor English or Bahasa

J. How to Send the Manuscript

  • Submit the Microsoft Word file via the “Online Submission” tab on the journal website.
  • Provide a short biography (full name, academic title, institution, phone, mobile, etc.) in the registration fields.

K. Final Decision

After peer review, authors will be notified through the website system with one of the following outcomes:

  • Accepted without revision
  • Accepted with minor revision
  • Accepted with major revision
  • Rejected
