Journal History

ITEPA is a scientific journal in the field of Food Science and Technology, managed by the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University. The journal aims to disseminate the latest advancements in food technology, encompassing various disciplines including physical, chemical, microbiological, biotechnological, and sensory aspects. Initially established to accommodate research publications from students of the Food Science and Technology Study Program, ITEPA has since expanded its scope to include contributions from external authors. This expansion marks the journal’s commitment to becoming a reputable platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge food technology research.

The inaugural issue of ITEPA (Volume 1, Issue 1) was published in March 2012 by the Food Science and Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University. Although the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform was implemented from the outset, the publication process relied on the Quick Submit method, while submissions, peer reviews, and correspondence were conducted via email (itepa@unud.ac.id).

Since Volume 12, Issue 4 (2023), the journal has prioritized improvements to its publication system, evidenced by the majority of manuscripts undergoing submission and publication via the Udayana OJS platform. However, a limited number of articles—particularly those accepted during the 2021–2022 transition period—were still processed using the Quick Submit method.

Continuous enhancements have been made to the journal’s workflow. Beginning with Volume 13, Issue 3 (2024), the entire submission and publication process has been fully migrated to the OJS platform. While some article reviews are still conducted via email (itepa@unud.ac.id), the journal remains committed to fully transitioning all editorial processes to the OJS system, accessible through: https://ojs.unud.ac.id/index.php/itepa/index.

Since 2018, ITEPA Journal has been registered with Crossref, enabling all articles published from Volume 7, Issue 1 onwards to be assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). Additionally, improvements in article identification have been made through the inclusion of article genesis information, such as page numbers, DOI, and the history of submission and acceptance. All articles continue to be published under the auspices of the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University.

In accordance with the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) accreditation by RISTEK-BRIN (Decree No. 200/M/KPT/2020), the ITEPA Journal of Food Science and Technology has been officially recognized as an Accredited Scientific Journal (SINTA 4) starting from Volume 7, Issue 1 (2018). The journal was assigned an online ISSN (2527-8010) in 2016. Beginning in January 2020, its publication frequency increased from two volumes per year to four volumes per year.

Presently, ITEPA Journal is indexed in various national and international databases, including Dimensions (International), the Science and Technology Index (SINTA – National), Garba Rujukan Digital (Garuda – National), and other accredited scientific citation platforms.

Furthermore, as of September 30, 2024, ITEPA Journal has established a formal collaboration, evidenced by a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) No. B/34/UN14.2.12/HK.07.00/2024 between the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University and the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional ‘Veteran’ East Java. The agreement encompasses joint activities in education, research, and community service, particularly in the area of joint publications involving collaborative journal review and editorial processes.
