Kepentingan Amerika Serikat dalam Menerapkan Standar Ganda Pada Kebijakan Luar Negeri Terhadap ISIS dan Kelompok Pemberontak di Suriah (2013-2017)
Abstrak
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is an extremist movement that poses a threat to the United States. ISIS has captured important cities in Syria and aims to establish a caliphate state. Its goal is to support Syrian rebels while attacking targets affiliated with the Syrian government. To weaken the government of Bashar Al Assad, the United States is supporting opposition groups that are fighting ISIS but also attempting to overthrow Bashar Al Assad. This creates a pattern of double standards carried out by America in responding to extremist groups such as ISIS, FSA, and Al Nusra Front in Syria. This research examines the role of the United States in implementing double standards simultaneously in one country with the same objective. The research method used in this study is a descriptive method using library techniques where data sources are obtained from books, journals, documents, and other sources, which are then processed and analyzed qualitatively. This study employs the framework of the concept of national interest and double standards. The result of this research is the double standard that the United States applies regarding ISIS and other extremist groups in Syria for military, economic, and political interests, such as expanding hegemony, controlling oil companies in Syria, and overthrowing the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
