Abstrak

Efforts made by European Union in order to suppress the violence events of Burundi in 2015 until 2016

This research has the purpose to describe the efforts made by the European Union in order to suppress the violence events of Burundi in 2015 until 2016 using a qualitative method. The election that was held by the Burundian Government in 2015 triggered a demonstration that ends up in the events of violence in Burundi. This research uses the concept of foreign aid and political conditonality to describe the efforts made by the European Union in suppressing the violence events in Burundi. This research found that the European Union used their foreign aid and the political conditionality attached to the foreign aid as an effort to suppress the violent events of Burundi in 2015 until 2016. European Union also uses the carrot and stick dimension of foreign aid as an effort to suppress the violence events that happened in Burundi.
