Identification of the Geological Structure of Jagoi Babang District and Surrounding Areas in Bengkayang Regency Using Gravity Data
Abstract
Geothermal is one of the natural resources found in Jagoi Babang District, Bengkayang Regency, and is usually related to geological structures. This study aims to identify geological structures in Jagoi Babang District and its surroundings in Bengkayang Regency using the gravity method. The data used for this study are Free Air Anomaly (FAA) data from the Global Gravity Model Plus (GGMPlus). This data is corrected by Bouger and terrain to produce a complete Bouger anomaly. From the complete Bouger anomaly, anomaly separation is carried out using the upward continuation method. The regional anomaly of the study area is 37.5 mGal to 46 mGal, while the residual anomaly is -6 mGal to 8 mGal. Residual anomaly data is used for modeling subsurface structures and Second Vertical Derivative (SVD) analysis of 2 trajectories. Based on SVD modeling and analysis, the A-A’ trajectory has eight (8) faults, and the B-B’ trajectory has six (6) faults. This fault is thought to be the migration path of hot water to the surface of the earth located on the A-A' and B-B' routes. This research is expected to be a reference for related agencies to take policies and planning for the development of geothermal potential in Jagoi Babang District, Bengkayang Regency.
