KAJIAN TEORITIS DINAMIKA KONVERSI LAHAN PERTANIAN

Abstrak

Agricultural land conversion basically occurs because of competition in land use between the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. Competition arises as a result of three economic and social phenomena, namely: limited land resources, population growth and economic growth. In each region, the available land area is relatively fixed or limited so that population growth will increase the scarcity of land that can be allocated for agricultural and non-agricultural activities. Meanwhile economic growth tends to encourage the demand for land for non-agricultural activities at a higher rate than the demand for land for agricultural activities because the demand for agricultural products is more elastic for income. The dynamics of conversion of agricultural land is very interesting to study theoretically through the study of theories and research results related to the conversion of agricultural land. Several analytical methods can explain future agricultural land use planning, including land evaluation methods (statistically and dynamically) and Geographic Information Systems (through maps and spatial data). The use of these methods must be integrated so that they can be implemented in the field. Descriptively, the direction of policies to control agricultural land conversion can be done through a juridical approach, providing incentives and disincentives for farmers and parties involved in land conversion actions or control measures to convert agricultural land.
