POTENSI BAMBU TABAH DAN MODIFIKASINYA SEBAGAI ADSORBEN ZAT WARNA INDIGO

Abstract

             Pewarna alami indigo, juga disebut sebagai "King of Dye", digunakan secara luas dalam pembuatan pakaian tradisional Bali. Meningkatnya penggunaan zat warna indigo menyebabkan volume limbah bertambah besar yang dapat mencemari lingkungan perairan. Penanganan limbah ini penting, untuk meminimalisir dampak negatifnya bagi lingkungan dan metode adsorpsi menjadi salah satu pilihan. Dalam penelitian ini, dipelajari efisiensi adsorpsi zat warna indigo menggunakan serbuk bambu (B0) dan serbuk arang bambu berukuran mikron (AB0) untuk mengadsorpsi zat warna indigo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  Bo dan ABo memiliki waktu adsorpsi, pH larutan yang sama yaitu  30 menit, dan pH = 2, massa adsorben  sebesar 0,20 g dan 0,10 g untuk Bo dan ABo. Kapasitas adsorpsi B0 dan AB0 masing-masing sebesar 105,897 mg/g dan 236,056 mg/g. Isoterm adsorpsi B0 dan AB0 mengikuti model Freundlich.

ABSTRACT


            The natural indigo dye, also known as the "King of Dye," is widely used in the production of traditional Balinese clothing. Increasing use of indigo dye results in large volumes of waste and can pollute aquatic environments. Managing this waste is crucial to minimize the negative impacts, and an adsorption method is an effective option. This study compares the adsorption efficiency of indigo dye using bamboo powder (B0) and micron-sized bamboo charcoal powder (AB0). The results showed that the optimum adsorption conditions for B0 and AB0 were 30 minutes, pH 2, adsorbent mass for B0 of 0.20 g, and AB0 of 0.10 g. The adsorption capacities for B0 and AB0 were 105.897 mg/g and 236.056 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption isotherms for B0 and AB0 followed the Freundlich model.
