Abstrak

Introduction: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) type II in Indonesia, especially in the Puskesmas Rajeg in 2019, shows an increase in the coverage of DM sufferers. Diet and sadentary lifestyle are major risk factors for the incidence of DM, especially in developing countries. Knowledge and good diet management can provide better DM control and prevent complications.


Method: This research uses descriptive analytic method with cross sectional design. The data taken included questionnaires, blood glucose, and patient medical records. The sample of this study was 30 type II DM patients getting treatment at the Rajeg Puskesmas. Samples were taken by simple random sampling technique then data were analyzed by chi-square test.


Result: From overall sample, the middle level of knowledge as many as 18 people (60%) and a good level of knowledge 12 people (40%). Blood glucose <200 mg/dl as many as 14 people (47%) and blood glucose ?200 mg/dl as many as 16 people (53%). The results of the chi-square analysis showed a significant difference between DM diet knowledge on blood glucose control (p-value= 0.002). Chi-square analysis between levels of education on DM diet knowledge showed significant differences (p-value= 0.008).


Conclusion: There is a significant difference between DM diet knowledge on blood glucose control. The factor identified as having a significant relationship to the low level of knowledge is the level of education.
