The effectiveness of vitamin supplementation on the growth and survival rate of catfish (Clarias sp.)
Abstrak
The study intends to provide information related to the effectiveness of vitamin supplementation on the growth and survival of catfish (Clarias sp.) located in a fish pond at the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Udayana University in October-December 2023. The research method used was experimental which consisted of four treatments with three repetitions. Catfish that have a length of ± 10 cm are given treatment A, namely without the addition of vitamins, treatment B with the addition of vitamin C as much as 300 mg/kg, treatment C with the addition of vitamin E as much as 500 mg/kg; and treatment D, which is the administration of vitamin C and vitamin E alternately included in the feed. The study showed that feeding with additional vitamins had a substantial impact on the growth and viability of catfish (P<0.05). The weight growth of catfish obtained from treatment A was 5.36 ± 0.19 g, treatment B was 6.93 ± 0.89 g, treatment C was 11.64 ± 2.64 g, and treatment D was 12.63 ± 1.45 g. The average length growth obtained was 12.63 ± 1.45 g, respectively. The average length growth obtained in treatments A, B, C, and D were 1.08±0.27 cm, 2.66±0.18 cm, 2.80±0.21 cm, and 3.10±0.77 cm, respectively. The percentage of survival rate seen in the order A, B, C, and D were 60±8.16%; 76.6±4.71%; 76.6±4.71%; and 80±0%, respectively. Assessment of water quality in the rearing environment needs to be adjusted so that catfish can grow and live well. The average water quality is pH between 7.6-7.7, temperature between 27.22-27.62°C, and DO of 4.01-4.25 mg/L which is still optimal for catfish growth.
