PERAN ETNISITAS DAN BASIS MASSA ANGGOTA DPRD DALAM PEMILU LEGISLATIF 2019 DI KOTA DENPASAR

Abstrak

This research investigates the political influence of the Chinese ethnic community in the 2019 legislative election in Denpasar City, with a focus on the victory of legislative candidate Agus Wirajaya. Utilizing qualitative methodology and descriptive methods, data from interviews and documentation with ten informants, including Agus Wirajaya himself, leaders of the Chinese ethnic community, political party leaders, youth leaders, and Agus Wirajaya’s voters, were analyzed. The research findings indicate that the involvement of the Chinese ethnic community in the election was facilitated by the political rights equality for Indonesian citizens. Additionally, the Theory of Political Identity reveals the significance of Primordialism and Instrumentalism in identity politics during the legislative election. Support from political parties, family, relatives, and the general public proved to be crucial factors contributing to Agus Wirajaya’s success in the 2019 legislative election.
