ANALISIS KEBIJAKAN MORATORIUM PERMANEN HUTAN ALAM DAN LAHAN GAMBUT TERHADAP DEFORESTASI HUTAN DI INDONESIA

Abstrak

World climate change due to deforestation and forest degradation is a responsibility for countries that have a fairly large number of forest areas. Indonesia is the country with the third largest forest area in the world. As a country with a large forest area, the Indonesian government is committed to reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by managing and preserving its forest areas. This study aims to determine the implementation of a permanent moratorium on primary natural forests and peatlands against deforestation in Indonesia. Various policies have been issued by the Indonesian government for the management of forest areas including Presidential Instruction No.5 of 2019 concerning the Termination of Granting New Permits and Improving the Governance of Primary Natural Forests and Peatlands. Presidential Instruction No. 5 of 2019 is an update of the previous presidential decrees which are still only delays. The application of Presidential Instruction No.5   of 2019 is in the form of revision and the issuance of the Indicative Map for the Termination of New Permits (PIPPIB) by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia. By implementing these policies, it is proof of the responsibility to protect and invite the community, both central and local governments, entrepreneurs and the general public to protect Indonesia's forests. through the implementation of this policy, forest areas in Indonesia will achieve good forest management in the future. This research uses qualitative methods with the aim of describing the policy of a permanent moratorium on natural forests and peatlands against deforestation in Indonesia.
